There are many benefits to becoming an AFT-Y member, but none is more important than using our collective voice to advocate for our co-workers and our students in the face of relentless challenges in the economy and public education.

Dues Information:
Dues are collected from faculty who elect to join the American Federation of Teachers-Yakima (AFT-Y). AFT-Y represents all faculty at Yakima Valley College and negotiates towards ideal working conditions for all faculty. Faculty that are not members cannot attend meetings or vote in union matters but are still represented by the faculty union. As of Winter 2024, member dues are currently:
- For full-time faculty: 1.25% of your salary ($50.00/pay period for Step 7 up to $55.24/pay period for Step 1)
- For part-time faculty, $11.07/pay period
Dues are deducted directly through the payroll process.
